Café at the Plaza
Oh That Café!
The Café at the Plaza is a bustling vintage eatery and coffee shop the locals consider an insider culinary treasure. Many say we have the best brunch in Milwaukee; we’re flattered by that.
Sit at the curving counter with a view to the open kitchen to take in the sense of place at our Milwaukee restaurant. Tables and chairs spill out into the private lobby with original Art Deco windows and arched alcoves. During warm weather months, ask for seating in the courtyard where you’ll feel transported to that sidewalk café you love in Europe or the al fresco restaurant you visit every time you’re in New York.
Breakfast and lunch are served here, with Sunday brunch a ritual for those in the city. Everything is made in-house from scratch with an emphasis on locally sourced seasonal and organic ingredients.
Breakfast at the Café – Available all day
If you have time for just one meal with us, make it breakfast. The morning experience is about a well-poured cup of coffee, amazing made-from-scratch savory and sweet dishes, and an authentic retro vibe. Classic lunch more your flavor? No problem. After 11a.m., we serve a variety of freshly prepared sandwiches and fresh salads.
NEW for Fall 2014: Chef Kady has created some amazing new dishes that have already made it to top of the most-ordered list, including the Smoked Salmon Benedict and Pork & Spaetzle.
Brunch at the Café
Need a hip place to meet for a brunch? A quiet spot to reconnect with old friends? A solo nook to soak in the comings and goings? This is that place. We’re Milwaukee’s brunch spot – the place where the locals love to go.
NEW for Fall 2014: Chef Kady recommends trying out two new brunch entrées that have become fast favorites – the Mexican Scrambler and Pork & Spaetzle.
Ease Into the Evening
A wonderful way to kick off the extended weekend is with a specialty cocktail, featured wine or seasonal craft brew in hand. Serving select libations and small plate appetizers from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in the Café and, weather permitting, al fresco in the courtyard. The outdoor dining space is a little slice of paradise in the city. We recommend the French 75, a cocktail creation of much acclaimed Rehorst gin and vodka – the distilled spirits are handmade in small batches right here in Milwaukee. Pair with assorted local cheeses and Chimichurri sliders.
When you dine in our courtyard, your most difficult decision may be which to grab first – your fork or your camera. The imagery of the hotel’s open-air courtyard could easily be torn from the pages of a French travel guide. Beautifully restored, it beckons guests to relax over breakfast or lunch.
