General Manager

We are searching for an energetic, self-motivated individual for the position of General Manager at The Plaza Hotel to oversee all operations and departments of this historic and dynamic property, including the hotel’s in-house Café. A strong leader will excel in this role, contributing to the hotel’s established climate of excellence while providing the leadership expertise that ensures the effective and efficient operation of the hotel.

Candidates should possess skills in team development, facility operations, food & beverage management, and have a proven track record to execute and problem solve in a detail-oriented customer service environment. This experienced and confident individual will be expected to manage the operations of the facility in order to maximize profitability and to ensure superior guest service and product quality. An understanding of broad-based marketing plans with rate and yield management efforts will contribute to the success of this individual. This candidate should be prepared to direct the maximization of revenue with anticipation of market shifts, as well as the development and monitoring of annual business and marketing plans.

Community-based involvement and participating in appropriate local/regional marketing efforts is expected in this role. This opportunity requires strength in relationship building with guests and ownership. Salary commensurate with experience.

The Plaza Hotel is a historic Art Deco hotel in Milwaukee’s Lower East Side. It is home to two floors of guest rooms and two floors of private residences. There is a bustling vintage Café, and a small gathering room. The hotel has several property improvement projects in the planning stages.

Front Desk Agent

Applicant must have strong interpersonal and administrative skills, work with a high level of professionalism, and be an effective decision maker.

Key Requirements:

  • Successful history as a front desk agent or related hospitality experience
  • Must be flexible to work 1st and 2nd shift along with weekends.
  • Task-driven individual

Responsibilities:

  • Register & process guests and their assigned rooms
  • Accommodate guest requests
  • Communicating with hotel staff on the status of guest rooms
  • Up Selling guest rooms and promoting hotel services
  • Handling cash payments
  • Maintain a clean and neat front desk area
  • Must have proper phone etiquette

Café Host

Key Requirements:

  • Customer service oriented individual
  • Positive attitude
  • Able to work in a fast paced setting
  • Take direction and is a team player
  • Weekends are required

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and seat guests upon arrival
  • Maintain communication with line cooks and servers to ensure a steady pace in the Café
  • Assist with busing tables and running food when needed
