From outdoor winter activities to plenty of holiday spirit, Milwaukee provides an array of new and classic events that make residents feel like they’re in a whole new world and travelers feel right at home. Here are some of our favorites below.

SLICE OF ICE

November – March

If the idea of ice-skating downtown amidst the twinkling lights sounds appealing to you then Red Arrow Park is your place to visit. They offer skate rentals to those wanting to embrace the season’s offerings. Next door is a coffee shop so don’t forget to grab a hot beverage afterward to warm up!

CHRISTKINDLEMARKET

November 15 – December 24

If you’ve never been to a traditional outdoor German holiday market, now is your chance! Taking place at the Fiserv Forum grounds, this will be free admission and showcasing merchandise from around the world.

MILWAUKEE HOLIDAY LIGHTS FESTIVAL

November 21- January 1

Happening all around downtown Milwaukee are the displays of festivity that light up the area. The kickoff event to turn them on will be taking place on November 21 at Pere Marquette Park downtown.

A CHRISTMAS CAROL

November 26 – December 24

Held at the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, this holiday classic will provide enough theatrical goodies to fill up any sized stocking.

SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY

November 30

Small locally owned businesses open up their doors to celebrate. Focused in the Historic Third Ward, this is the perfect opportunity to shop for family members (or yourself) and support local.

WESTOWN GETS LIT

December 5

Join all of downtown and Westown as they flip on the first official Westown tree lighting ceremony. This will kick off at 4:30 pm, with the countdown of the lights at 5 pm. Featuring Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra carolers, fire pits with s’mores, outdoor games and free hot cocoa and cookies. A sure treat to enjoy!

CHRISTMAS IN THE WARD

December 6

Starting at 5:30 pm this event is an old-fashioned Milwaukee favorite complete with fireworks, tree lighting, Santa and live reindeer to help kick off the holiday season!

COOL FOOL KITE FESTIVAL

January 1

This free event will offer festivalgoers the opportunity to see the largest col­lection of kites in the Midwest and also have the opportunity to fly some kites as well! Watch ice carving, warm up over free cocoa and snacks and enjoy the lakefront in the new year.
